Bakhmut has become a key point in the war between Ukraine and Russia. So much so that since the beginning of the war, Russian invaders have lost more than 100,000 soldiers in and around Bakhmut alone. In Bakhmut, which is in a very strategic position, the Russian occupiers increased their troop deployment and attacks. The Ukrainian army continues to respond with the same strength! Hundreds of Russian soldiers have been killed by the Ukrainian army in the last 24 hours!
The war in Bakhmut is escalating day by day! Wagner Group Boss Yevgeni Prigozhin’s announcement that he would withdraw from Bakhmut dropped like a bomb on the agenda! Because Bakhmut was a very important settlement for Putin. So much so that Putin was planning to seize Bakhmut and advance the occupation from here to the depths of Ukraine.
The battle in Bakhmut lasted so long that Prigozhin and Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu came face to face! Prigozhin began to harshly criticize the Kremlin for not receiving ammunition from the Russian army!
Finally, Prigozhin, who made a statement in front of the dead Wagner Group soldiers, announced that they will now withdraw from Bakhmut! After Prigozhin’s statements, eyes turned to Bakhmut. Serhii Cherevatyi, the spokesperson for the Eastern Grouping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reported the latest developments in Bakhmut.
Stating that the invaders rained bombs on Ukrainian positions throughout the day, Ukrainian spokesman Cherevatyi said, “The enemy shelled this section of the front 375 times with various types”.
Stating that the clashes continued intensively, Cherevatyi said, “There were eight engagements in which 166 occupiers were killed and 206 more were wounded”. Cherevatyi also announced the destruction of a Russian T-72 tank and an armored personnel carrier, a lightly armored tractor, an Orlan-10 UAV, and six field ammunition depots.
Commenting on the statements of Wagner Group leader Prigozhin, Cherevatyi continued:
“The Defence Forces are killing them [Wagner fighters] en masse, and they have no source of manpower due to many reasons, including the fact that the occupying ministry of defense is already recruiting the prisoners. Therefore, he is looking for any excuse to avoid paying for unfulfilled obligations and has been making this ‘white noise’ for a month, lamenting that he is not given shells, although they have more than enough shells.”
