The Russian spy who informed the occupiers about the location of Ukrainian fighter jets and defense systems was caught!
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) recently found out that a Crimean resident who obtained Russian citizenship after the annexation of Ukraine in 2014 was spying for Russia after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. The Russian spy, who was found to have passed very important information to the Russian occupiers, was caught by the SBU.
It was learned that the Russian spy started his espionage activity after contacting the representative of the enemy intelligence service. At the beginning of the war, the Russian spy traveled from Crimea to Mykolaiv Oblast where his relatives lived. Because he needed to collect intelligence on the location and movement of Ukrainian troops.
In 2022, the spy, who joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces, passed information to the occupiers about the movement of fighter jets and the positions of the Ukrainian air defense system.
The Russian spy was found to have sent the information to the Russian occupiers through his ex-wife living in Crimea.
This was not the first Russian spy captured by Ukraine. Many spies spying for Russia had been caught before. Last year, another Russian spy was caught by the SBU in Bakhmut, who transferred the location of Ukrainian troops to the enemy forces. The case against the spy was finalized. Prosecutors proved in court that in June-July 2022, a man used his own phone to send information to the Russian invaders via Telegram. The 36-year-old Russian spy was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
Russian invaders have stepped up attacks in Bakhmut in recent days. The Ukrainian army continued its resistance against the invaders’ attacks. Russian invaders have lost nearly 200,000 soldiers so far. At least 100,000 of these losses occurred only in and around Bakhmut!
